PuppetVision Blog

One of the many talented puppeteers at Dragon*Con earlier this month was Gordon Smuder, who has worked in special FX for over 20 years and is well-known to longtime PuppetVision readers as one of the creators of the web (and now broadcast!) series Transylvania TV. Gordon presented several panels at Dragon*Con, one of which focused on Advanced Puppet Construction. I wasn’t able to see it in person, but luckily it was recorded and now available to watch in its entirety online. If you’re looking for a good, comprehensive introduction to moving mouth foam puppet construction, this is it.

…and speaking of Transylvania TV, as I mentioned above it’s now making the transition to broadcast television in the United States. Stations around the U.S. will be broadcasting five half hour episodes of TVTV along with the one-hour The Transylvania TV Real Meaning of Halloween Special  in October (click here for a list of stations, check your local listings for specific air dates and times). While this is fantastic news for Gordon and his goulish crew, they’ve also been hit with the financial burden of having to purchase Errors and Omissions Insurance to enable the show to be broadcast. If you’d like to help support them, you can make a donation via this link, or help out by purchasing some swag from the TVTV online shop.
