The Toronto Puppet Explosion

If you’re in or near Toronto tomorrow night, come down to Comedy Bar and join some of your favourite Toronto-area puppeteers at The Toronto Puppet Explosion, an evening of silly, experimental and hilarious puppet fun!

The Toronto Puppet Explosion is a continuation of One Night Slam, the regular, ongoing series of puppet slams that Unraku (of which I’m a founding member) began last year here in Toronto. After a very successful start in 2011, we were very disappointed to realize that it was impossible for us to continue organizing puppet slams this year due to a variety of new personal and professional commitments. Thankfully, our good friends and frequent collaborators at Wildrun Productions have picked up the Toronto Puppet Slam Torch and run with it! They’re taking the One Night Slam tradition that we began last year and re-launching it bigger and better than ever!

Wildrun’s Res Krebs, who will be hosting the event with his curmudgeonly alter ego Frank Feltman and Unraku’s Puppet What What, recently sat down for an interview with The Puppet Slam Network’s blog about the show. You can read it here.

The Toronto Puppet Explosion takes place at Comedy Bar (975 Bloor Street West) in Toronto at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night. Scheduled performers include Tim HollandNicholas Lemon, The Bricoteer Puppetry ProjectJoel Brubacher, Unraku, perennial puppet slam favourite Mike Harding and Jamie Shannon. Tickets are $5 at the door
