This is a “finger puppet remix” of The Mysterious Ticking Noise, the most popular puppet video in YouTube’s history. We produced this over a year ago at Unraku. This was originally shot as part of a pilot/demo for a series we were developing called The Puppet Building Podcast (see previous post) over a year ago. The plan was to produce a web series that would have demonstrated how to build a different type of puppet and each week we would have shot a short little video like this one using the puppets we made.
It’s too bad the show didn’t go ahead, because this was a lot of fun to make. The audio is of course from Neil Cicierega’s original video, but the puppet stage, props and hand crocheted finger puppets were all made by the Unraku workshop (the finger puppets were based on patterns by Inner Child Crochet). The puppeteers in video are Terri Crocker, Kelly Kirkham, Robin Polfuss, Kristi Wilson and myself.
Oh and finger puppetry? Much harder to do on camera than it looks…
