Jim Henson’s first regular gig on national TV in the U.S. was Rowlf the Dog appearing as a regular on the Jimmy Dean Show in the 1960s. Clips of Rowlf and Jimmy Dean have traditionally been few and rarely seeen, but The Muppet Newsflash reports that Volume One of The Best of the Jimmy Dean Show has been released on DVD and includes several of the classic Rowlf/Jimmy Dean skits.

I’ve seen a few of these over the years and I think they’re brilliant and still really funny even after all these years. This is the first in a series of Jimmy Deans DVDs planned by Time-Life so there should be lots more Rowlf and Jimmy Dean to look forward to in the future!
