Sau’rus invades Toronto this weekend

Close Act brings the spectacle of Sau’rus to the Celebrate Toronto Street Festival this weekend.
The Celebrate Toronto Street Festival is on this weekend in Toronto and as part of the festivities the Dutch street theatre/puppet troupe Close-Act is bringing their giant puppet show Sau’rus to the city for its North American premiere. Close-Act is known for doing large-scale street theatre spectacles throughout Europe and abroad and their use of spectacle and gigantic five metre high dinosaur puppets reminds me of Les Giraffes at last year’s festival (see previous post) and the recent The Sultan’s Elephant extravaganza in London.
You can see videos of Close Act’s work online here. If you’re in or near T.O. this weekend be sure to catch one of their performances. Sau’rus appears Saturday and Sunday at Yonge and Eglington at 1:30, 4:30 & 7:15 p.m.
