Monday Morning Inspiration: Xperimental Puppet Theatre

Scene from Raymond Carr’s black light adaptation of David and Golaith at this year’s XPT at the Centre for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.
The Centre for Puppetry Arts held their annual Xperimental Puppet Theatre shows over the weekend in Atlanta. XPT is an annual event designed to encourage new voices and new directions in puppetry. The Centre provides puppetry artists with a small grant and helps them create ten minute long collaborative pieces that are subversive, inspired and/or outlandish. One of the most interesting looking pieces this year is a retelling of David and Golaith set in feudal Japan by director Raymond Carr (see the photo I’ve posted above).
