Like a lot of puppeteers steeped in the Muppet tradition, when Mike Quinn and Dave Barclay used to run puppetry workshops in the UK they’d start by teaching students the mechanics of the bare hand, then move up to the famous Oobi-style ping-pong-balls-on-an-elastic on top of the hand before graduating them to one of these furry practice puppets.
