Willy and Furby

OK, whatever you’re doing right now I want you to stop and head over to ifilm. There’s two puppet films there I just finished watching that you have to see – Better Trap and No Strings Attached. Both are directed by Andrew Jones, the creator of the syndicated children’s puppet series Field Trip.

I especially loved Willy, the main character in No Strings Attached. I was looking up some background info on Willy’s puppeteer David Fedele – who was principal puppeteer on both films – and a Google search inadvertantly led me to this article about a team of puppeteers who helped create Furby. Who knew?

But Furby aside, what I think really makes these two films special isn’t the fact that they’re puppet films, but that they’re great films that just happen to have puppetry in them.
